Wetang’ula asserts his supremacy as Ford Kenya captures county assembly top seat

Ford Kenya asserted its supremacy in Bungoma when it scooped yet another top county seat.The seat of county assembly speaker went to advocate Emmanuel Situma who defeated a colleague in the profession Antonina Sangura 47 to 13 votes.

The results bring to four the number of county seats FORD-K in NASA partner has so far won from the August 8 general elections.

Others include that of governor where Wafula Wangamati ousted Jubilee’s Kenneth Lusaka and that of women’s representative where Catherine Wambilyanga beat Dr. Reginalda Wanyonyi also from the ruling party.

In the assembly FORD-K also managed 18 seats plus 6 nominated forming the majority and governor Wangamati will have it easy as most bills are likely to sail through with or without opposition.

And as the MCA’S were being sworn in before electing the speaker hell broke loose as word went round to the effect that the supreme court had nullified the election of president Uhuru Kenyatta.

The large crowd which had gathered at Pascal Nabwana gardens burst into song and dance interrupting the proceedings in the chamber for some time.

On the streets boda boda operators poured into them chanting NASA songs as traders closed down their business premises for fear that the crowds could cash on the situation to loot.

Stephen Wambilianga of Chewai group of hotels said it was only fair that the two candidates Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga return to the person to prove to the world who among them is the most popular.

He however expressed hopes that I.E.B.C. which was found to have flouted the electoral process would not be allowed to organize and preside over the presidential bye election.
