Nzoia Sugar Company acting manager Michael Kulundu has succumbed to injuries inflicted to him when he was abducted recently in Bungoma town.

Mr Kulundu died on Tuesday night at 11pm while receiving treatment at Nairobi hospital.

The acting MD was kidnapped, tortured by unknown people in Kanduyi on January 3, 2019 where he sustained panga injuries.

He was later found unconscious in a ditch 100 metres away from Salmond view hotel and guest house where it is alleged that he was having drinks with people who are not identified on the fateful day.

He was shortly admitted at Bungoma West private hospital where he was treated before being transferred to Eldoret and later on transferred to Nairobi hospital.

Medical reports showed that the late suffered from multiple injuries including a scar on the head, dislocated shoulder, cuts on the right hand, chest and lower limbs. The medical officers however said that he is in a stable condition and will soon recover.

A police report later revealed that the acting MD was kidnapped by three unknown people who were armed with pistols at a hotel situated along Kanduyi-Webuye highway.

Family members have expressed their deep grief following his demise describing him as a family man.

“He died yesterday at Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment. We have taken the body to Lee funeral home for preservation and a postmortem on a later date,” said a family member.

Family members of the late were found mourning in their home in Harambee, Matungu constituency in Kakamega County.

In a press release dated March 7, 2019, Nzoia sugar company board of directors’ chairman Joash Wamang’oli said that Mr. Kulundu has been on a routine follow-up with his physiotherapist in Nairobi hospital before his untimely death.

“Mr Kulundu and his family were having prayer sessions in the house in Nyayo, Embakasi before they could retire to bed when he collapsed. He was immediately rushed to a nearby health facility, Bristol park, where he was pronounced dead,” read part of the press release.

He added that the late had shown signs of recovering and it is unfortunate the promising face is no longer there.
